Our School - History

The school was established with seven students in 1960, which was below the statutory minimum number of pupils in those days but the Minister took the view that numbers would soon grow and so we were allowed to have a school with the three provisions:

  • We must supply a building adequate to house at least twelve children.
  • We must find somwhere to board a teacher.
  • The temporary building be removed once the permanent school was provided.

There is a book celebrating the history of Munglinup Primary School, called "From small beginnings...big things grow" which covers 1960-2010 (50 years). The school has a copy in the library.
